Firestreamer-RM is a utility that enables existing tape oriented backup software, such as the Microsoft Backup Utility, to directly access a wide range of non-tape storage media. Essentially, Firestreamer is a virtual tape drive that uses files, BD (Blu-ray), DVD, HDD, Iomega REV and other types of media as the underlying storage. Firestreamer is compatible with the Microsoft Backup Utility (NTBackup), Microsoft SBS Backup Configuration Wizard, Microsoft SQL Server Backup and Symantec Backup Exec 10d, and runs on Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Server 2003. Firestreamer supports encryption, compression, media and drive spanning, Windows Automated System Recovery (ASR), easy scheduled backups with email notifications and more.
